Yule Celebration: Winter Solstice. Sat 21st Dec, 6-9pm
Aho Brothers and Sisters. Join us at Berkeley Farm on the night of Yule.
December 21st is a very special date, it is the winter solstice: the longest night of the year, the moment that marks the end of darkness and the arrival of light. It is a magical moment, celebrated by many cultures. In the North, where the darkness is even greater and the cold too, the winter solstice means the triumph of life over death, a moment of quiet celebration, families and friends gathered around the fire to celebrate that they were alive and to remember their ancestors and those who had fallen by the wayside. It is Yule.
At the Yule celebration, a celebration that could last several weeks around the winter solstice, a tree was placed that recalled the Yggdrasil, the great ash tree, the tree of life, or ash tree of the universe from whose branches hang the Nine Worlds, including the world of humans. In Norse mythology, its roots and branches hold the different worlds together.
Presented by Renato Guerrero and Daren Ellis.
We will share a space of celebration with sounds and a sacred space to remember our loved ones, those who are present and those who are not, in the sacred fire, where we will put our intentions for the coming year and give thanks for the year we left behind.
Bring a gift that has a beautiful intention and let's play secret santa in the tree of life!
